Inca Tern Zarcillo Larosterna inca, Peruvian Bobby Piquero peruana Sula variegata, South American Sealions Otaria flavescens. The Callao islands lay off Callao, the largest and most important port in Peru. It is the maritime gateway to Lima and is a busy industrial harbour, located west of Lima and is part of the Lima Metropolitan Area. San Lorenzo, the largest island, is currently a military base and El Frontón a former high security prison. The Cavinzas and the Palominos Islands are uninhabited and where a large number of sea lions and sea birds live in a virtually untouched ecosystem. There is currently proposed plans to build a huge naval terrestrial and air port on San Lorenzo Island. This project is called the San Lorenzo Megaport Project.
