Lanimers is a week long festival which takes place in Lanark in west central Scotland each year in early to mid June. It dates from the 15th century and marks the custom of the annual inspection of the March or boundary stones which mark to traditional boundaries of the town, which dates from Lanark becoming a Royal Burgh in 1411. The March stones are still inspected as part of Lanimers. Lanimer Day takes place on the Thursday of Lanimer week and is marked by a colourful procession and the crowning of the Lanimer Queen, who is a schoolgirl aged 11 or 12.
