During the World Series at Wrigley Field, home to the Chicago Cubs, the statue of legendary broadcaster Harry Caray at the entrance to the bleachers was adorned with a Cubs jersey and green apples at its foot. The apples were symbolic of a Caray statement that as sure as God made green apples the Cubs would be in the World Series again some day. It was the first World Series for the Cubs since 1945. The Cubs went on to win the World Series over the Cleveland Indians in seven games recording their first World Championship in 108 years!
