April 2011. Anti animal cruelty demonstrators gathered at the evening performance of Bobby Roberts Circus taking place on land at Lately Common, Leigh, Lancashire at the junction of the A574 and the A580 East Lancs Road . Bobby Roberts Circus had recently attracted adverse publicity following the maltreatment of an elephant which formed one of the circus acts. Although the elephant had now been retired and re-homed, the continuing use of domestic animals such as horses as circus performers means the campaign against animal acts in circuses has not stopped. The demonstration elicited a steady stream of supporting honks from passing traffic This image has no property or model releases and is available for editorial use only.
