Holmes, an Arizona native, was attending the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks and was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 188th Air Defense Artillery Regiment but volunteered deploy to Iraq with the 141st. Pagel, Fargo, N.D., is a former ride captain for the N.D. Patriot Guard, and the spouse of retired Staff Sgt. Kristen Pagel, formerly a medic with Company C. Pagel participated in the N.D.
