County Armagh, Northern Ireland. 31 January 2018. A blue moon - a second full moon in a calendar month - which is also a supermoon as its orbit to the Earth is closer than normal, shines brightly between passing clouds in Northern Ireland. Because there is also a lunar eclipse tonight the moon is also referred to a "blood moon" because of the reddish tinge it takes on whenever sunlight in the Earth's atmosphere is reflected onto the moon.
