The Big Cypress Swamp is the Western Everglades, a rainforest of cypress domes and cypress strands punctuated by pine rocklands and vast sawgrass prairies. This view is up into the heart of the canopy of a cypress dome, where the water is deeper and the trees much taller than the surrounding landscape. Epiphytes, particularly Tillandsia, as shown in the center of this image, grow profusely along the cypress trunks in this very humid tropical swamp forest
