Rockabilly is one of the earliest styles of rock and roll dating to the 1950s. Rock comes from rock music and the billy comes from hillbilly, making it a blend of country and rock and roll music. Rockabilly music died out in the 1960s but saw a huge revival in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Typical instruments would be guitar, double bass, drums, piano, vocals. Elvis Presley’s “That’s All Right Mamma” was one of the earliest rockabilly songs that influenced a whole movement that it still with us today. Brian Setzer and his Shockabilly Riot band carries the torch more than sixty years after it first began. Good music never dies out.
