The Arch of Neutrality commemorates the decision of the President For Life of Turkmenistan, Saparmurat Niyazov or Turkmenbasy, that the.Republic of Turkmenistan should be unaligned. At its top is a statue of himself. Initially, this statue was displayed in a more prominent place in the capital city, Ashgabat, as part of Nyazov's Cult of Personality. It was on a podium that rotated so that the statue always faced the sun. The statue was moved to this location by Niyazov's successor, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.
