Annual procession of Madonna del Carmine (Our Lady of Mount Carmel) by British Italians outside St. Peter’s Italian church in Clerkenwell. The vibrant procession, the first Roman Catholic event on English streets for 349 years when Queen Victoria allowed it in 1883, took place in London’s Clerkenwell, 149 years after the founding of St Peter's Italian Church. Three white doves are released to begin the event with statues of saints, banners and religious paintings carried around the local neighbourhood. Various floats and walking groups in Italian and Biblical costumes and the clergy and congregation follow the procession. London, UK.
