In the American Revolution, the Battle of Bunker Hill and actually on nearby Breed's Hill was fought on June 17, 1775, in Charlestown, Massachusetts. The British won. American General Joseph Warren was a doctor who served in the American Revolution. He had been made a major general shortly before the Battle of Bunker Hill on June 17, 1775. He was killed when the British stormed the redoubt on Breed's Hill.
