About 60 grossly neglected animals - crippled horses, sheep with overgrown fleece, a malnourished cow - have been seized by El Dorado County animal control officers on Wednesday. A non-profit foundation, the Grace Foundation of Northern California, is taking the animals, hoping to restore them to health, but its executive director said the outlook is grim for many of these animals. It's the worst case of neglect on such a large scale that she has seen, she said. Throughout Thursday, foundation volunteers were sheering the sheep and examining the health of the animals to determine how to start the restoration process.
