Douglas DC-3 aircraft were produced from 1936 to 1945. Their speed, range and reliability revolutionized air transport and they were one of the most significant transport aircraft ever made. Such is their ruggedness that pilots affectionately describe them as “A collection of aircraft parts flying in loose formation.” And their ability to take off and land on grass or dirt runways makes them popular in developing countries, where runways are not always paved. This particular aircraft has been restored by Swiss enthusiasts and is highly-polished.
