A porter at Jesus College Cambridge walking past the wall of wisteria in the First Court on Tuesday morning April 28th 2015.The wisteria is four weeks early this year due to the recent mild weather. Stunning purple WISTERIA is blooming FOUR WEEKS early in Britain's parks and gardens, thanks to a mild winter and the recent sunny spring weather. The pretty lavender and viola flowers, which usually come out in May, are producing spectacular displays across the country after an unusually mild April. Gardeners say the sunshine and warm temperatures, which have been well above average, have helped the purple plant put on a particularly beautiful show this year. Swathes of wisteria, which flowers for about a month, have unfurled early, after this April became one of the sunniest on record. It is now creating wonderful walls of purple on cottages and houses across Britain. Chris O'Keefe, of the London Wisteria Company, said 90 per cent of the 200 wisterias they tend in London are now in bloom. "The flowers in London are out earlier than last year as we have had a particularly mild winter with no snow and a warm April, which has helped the wisteria to thrive, " he said.
