The Black-winged Stilt, Common Stilt, or Pied Stilt (Himantopus himantopus) is a widely distributed, very long-legged wader in the avocet and stilt family (Recurvirostridae). It can be found in West Europe and the Mediterranean region to Central Asia, sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar, South and Southeast Asia. In Thailand it is a common species in rice fields and also around the coast, especially on mudflats and in mangrove areas.
