A German ceremonial mace, circa 1600 Striking head with six pointed flanges. There is a base plate set on the round socket and a spirally grooved knob. Finely carved hardwood handle divided into sections of twisted bands. The grip is made up of bands of decorative vines, and has a finely shaped, multi-stepped pommel. There is an old, white colored collection number, "PC 4448", on the side. The head and handle have beautiful, pristine age patina. Length 56 cm.
