Pontsticill Reservoir located on the Southern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Mid-Wales. It lies between the mountain of Pen y Fan (886m) the highest point in southern Britain, to the North and the town of Merthyr Tydfil approximately 5 miles to the South. Ponsticll Reservoir was completed in 1927. Under the reservoir are scattered houses, the vicarage, Capel Taf Fechan, the 15th century Dolygaer church and a Congregational chapel.
