1930's Daily Mail promotional "Teddy Tail League" enamel badge by J. Gaunt of London. Teddy Tail was a Daily Mail cartoon character that developed a national following among young and old. He appeared from 1915 onwards and was the first daily cartoon strip in a British newspaper. It was so popular, the other papers were forced to launch their own cartoon characters, with the Daily Express launching "Rupert the Bear" and the Daily Mirror coming up with "Pip, Squeak and Wilfred".
