David Berger, the commanding general of Task Force Leatherneck, 1st Marine Division (Forward), and members of his staff following Berger’s visit with coalition forces here, April 12, 2012. During their visit to Helmand province’s Garmsir district, Berger and his staff surveyed positions manned by ‘America’s Battalion’ and Afghan National Security Forces. They discussed the progress made in Garmsir by the partnered forces, upcoming district community council elections and the nearing transition of lead security responsibility to Afghan forces.
