The white horse on Hackpen hill was cut in 1838 to commemorate the coronation of Queen Victoria. The Ridgeway national trail runs across the top of the hill, following the route of the original Great or Ancient Ridgeway- a prehistoric track that once crossed southern England from Norfolk to Dorset, and which is often referred to as Britain's oldest road.
Location: Hackpen Hill, Wiltshire, England.
