Parade float promoting the province of Natal, during the apartheid era, Durban, South Africa, 1966. The float was decorated with fauna and flora from the area. It’s very much a white audience viewing this event. The Province of Natal was a province of South Africa from 1910 until 1994. Rural areas inhabited by the black African population of Natal (the bantustan of KwaZulu) became partially autonomous in 1981. The first non-racial election was in 1994. That year, the KwaZulu bantustan was reincorporated into Natal and the province redesignated KwaZulu-Natal – a vintage 1960s photograph. Stock Photo

Raleigh, NC, USA, 4th February 2023, A pile of empty Krispy Kreme doughnuts boxes lay in the street at the half way point of a 5-mile sprint from the North Carolina State University campus. First run in 2004 as a dare among friends, the annual Krispy Kreme Challenge quickly became a fundraiser benefiting the UNC Children’s Hospital. The course record of 28:29 was set in 2020 with a pace of 5:41/mile, which includes time eating doughnuts. With national exposure the motto is “2,400 calories, 12 doughnuts, 5-miles, 1 hour.” Credit D Guest Smith / Alamy Live News Stock Photo
