Cranes are in use on work on the foundations of the new bridge, and on the far bank some of the completed concrete foundations on the Runcorn side can be seen. In the foreground, rubble shows where demolition has taken place, isolating the house in the centre where Mrs Mary Wilson sits tight in the path of the bridge, having refused alternative offers of accommodation. Runcorn is within the borough of Halton in the county of Cheshire. 24th June 1957.
