Erasmus Bridge, Rotterdam, Netherlands. Saturday 21st August, 2021. Tens of thousands or protesters took to the streets in six major cities’ of the Netherlands today. The demonstrators showed their disapproval regarding government measures or restrictions relating to the entertainment sector and, the Covid-19 pandemic; restrictions they consider to be of double standards. With the slogan ‘Unmute Us’, they came out in large numbers in: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Groningen, Eindhoven, Nijmenrgan and Utrecht. Demonstrations are demanding the events sector should open its doors to full capacity as of the 1st September. But the government insists that it remains closed until November 1. The ‘Unmute Us’ campaign argue: If fairs, the Zandvoort Formular 1 and football stadiums are allowed, and these events are deemed to be safe, then why not festivals and gatherings as well, now that 85 present of the adult population has been vaccinated.
