The Great Dividing Range also known as the Eastern Highlands, stretches for 3500 km along the eastern region of Australia. It is Australia's biggest mountain range and the third longest land-based mountain range in the world. In the south it starts near the Dauan Island in Queensland, northwards through New South Wales, and in Victoria curving west and finishing in the central plain of the Grampians in western Victoria.
