Radio is the primary way that farming communities receive weather and seasonal climate advisories in Kenya and across much of rural Africa. The Kangema RANET station is run by the meteorological department and reaches thousands of people in Muranga. It hosts shows on farming, weather and health. All of the program is in the Kikuyu language. Farmers can call in to ask questions about planting times, pests and other important considerations for their decision making.
