The photograph shows a pile of seasoned wood ready to burn on an open fire or log burner. This fuel is very popular and common in France and other parts of continental Europe, as it is a readily available and relatively cheap source of energy. Would must be seasoned for at least 3 years before it can be burned, or when the moisture content is below 20%. This is to avoid excessive amounts of smoke and other airborne particulates.
