The Old Bridge Tower dates from 1400. Above the gate are sculptures of St Vitus, the bridge's patron saint, flanked by St Wenceslas and Charles IV, from the workshops of Peter Parlér, who was responsible for much of the tower's decoration. The building was restored and embellished by Josef Mocker in the 1870s. The green copper dome of the Church of St Nicholas can be seen in the distance beyond the bridge.
