Oct. 01, 1976 - Snails Alive: At last, Chris Hudson's search for the largest snail in the world is over! And what a whopper it is! Gee Geronimo is now back to his normal snail health, having recovered from an injury caused during the flight from Africa to London. Young Christopher, patched up Gee's shell casing and dressed the wound for weeks on end as well as giving him a special diet. Now Gee has recovered with an activity that is astonishing for such a creature. Chris, who found Gee Geronimo in Sierre Leonne, is shortly retiring from his world of snails to take up an advertising post in London, and intends to present Gee and the whole of his 50 strong collection of snails to the London Zoo. Gee weighs 1 lb 7 ounces, measures 1 ft 1.5 inches fully extended and is about 6 years old. He has already been accepted by the Guinness Book of Records, as was his predecessor Geronimo I, who was then the existing record breaker. As a bonus to Chris, Gee Geronimo is to appear in a science feature film, before returning to his home at the London Zoo. All is well again, as Chris Hudson lifts Gee into the air.
