Men, women and children from the Caribbean arrive at Southampton in 1962 at the invitation of the British Government to help with rebuilding Britain after World War II. These people became the Windrush Generation due to their treatment by the British Home Office under a hostile environment policy where employers and other organisations were required to ask for visas.
