Martyr's Column of the very famous Cellular jail of India situated in the capital city of Port Blair in Andaman Islands. the column is erected in a memoir of brave-hearts sacrificed their life for the independence of India from colonial rule of British and the sepoy mutiny 1857. The solitary cells of Cellular jail were used to exile the political prisoners taking part in the Indian freedom struggle, the punishment in the common parlance was infamously known as Kaala Paani (Black Water), as the inmates captured here all could see was black due to absence of sunlight and the water (as the jail is situated on an island).
