Marta Minujín's Parthenon of Books at documenta 14 in Kassel, Germany, is by now almost entirely clad in the roughly 100,000 shrink-wrapped books that have been banned or challenged at some point, turning the steel scaffold on Friedrichsplatz into a full-scale replica of the Parthenon in Athens. Wrapped among them are J. D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye," Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's "The Little Prince," Mohamedou Ould Slahi's "Guantánamo Diary" and a volume by Thomas Mann. At the end of documenta 2017, the temple will be dismantled, the books given away to visitors and the plastic recycled
