Lowry Centre, Pier 8, Salford Quays, Salford, Manchester, 2000. Named after the Manchester artist LS Lowry, this Millennium project houses two theatres, three art galleries and conference facilities. One gallery is dedicated to Lowry's works. Designed by Michael Wilford & Partners and the late Sir James Stirling, it opened in 2000. An ice cream kiosk is parked at the foot of the tower.
