London Southend Airport, Essex, UK. 29th May, 2020. A charity run/cycle taking place on Southend Airport runway to raise money for the NHS. Normally the airport would be too busy with flights, but the Coronavirus pandemic has halted travel. easyJet and Ryanair would be flying their busy schedules at this time of year but instead the airliners are parked up. 40 members of the airport team have volunteered to run or cycle the length of the runway in stages as they aim to achieve a total of 290 km - the distance to one of the airport’s most popular destinations - Amsterdam
