September 9, 2017 - London, UK - London, UK. 9th September 2017. Several hundred protesters including a man with an orange 'Trump' mask attend a festival at the East gate of the worlds's largest arms fair, DSEI, the Defence & Security Equipment International, backed by the UK government where arms companies and arms dealers sell weapons to countries around the world including many repressive regimes. They listen to a programme of speakers, workshops, spoken word, choirs and groups and stopped lorries bringing arms by walking in front of them until pushed aside by police. Protesters on bicycles arrived in a 'Critical Mass' at the West Gate, and police arrest Charlie X, a Chaplin clone who tried to block a lorry, and inexplicably a cyclist who was found to be in possession of a bike lock. Back at the East Gate there was a lock-on by two protesters stopping up a lorry and other protesters sat on the road in front of it, with a large group holding a Quaker meeting. Police tried to clear the road and made several arrests including the two involved in the lock-in and another who lay under the wheels of the lorry.
