More information:

The Lilburn Tower is the standout feature of the Dunstanburgh Castle ruins. It can be seen from the villages of Craster and Embleton as it dominates the landscape perched on top of the Great Whin Sill. The castle was built during the 14th century to fortify the coastline from the invading scots. Today it is possible to visit the castle and view the ruins and the nesting seabirds on the cliffs below. A short walk from Craster or Embleton Bay on the Northumbria Way produces fine views of this famous castle.
