29 April 2019, Brandenburg, Klessin: These mortal remains of German soldiers from the Second World War were recovered by members of the Verein zur Bergung Gefallener in Osteuropa e.V. (Association for the Recovery of Fallen in Eastern Europe). (VBGO) in a former trench. The search for the remains of war dead on the edge of the Oderbruch continues. To this day, the whereabouts of many war dead from the Second World War in East Brandenburg remain unclear. So far, according to its own statements, the association has come across the remains of about 120 German and about the same number of Soviet soldiers in the Klessin area since its foundation in the 1990s. This year, 25 members from Germany, Russia and Switzerland are participating in the search. Photo: Patrick Pleul/dpa-Zentralbild/dpa
