01 October 2018, Brandenburg, Klessin: The mortal remains of a German soldier were recovered by members of the Verein zur Bergung Gefallener in Osteuropa e.V. (Association for the Recovery of Fallen in Eastern Europe). (VBGO) in a former trench from the Second World War. The search for the remains of war dead on the edge of the Oderbruch continues. To this day, the whereabouts of many war dead from the Second World War in East Brandenburg remain unclear. So far, according to its own statements, the association has encountered the remains of about 100 German and about 115 Soviet soldiers in the Klessin area since its foundation in the 1990s.
