June 28, 2020. Lynn, MA. The Lynn Way Merchants Association protests at the LynnMart. A motorcade called the Cancel Evictions Caravan drove by 24 apartment buildings across metro Boston where tenants are organizing for collective bargaining and strong legislation. Tenants rallied in front of their apartment buildings as the caravan of supporters drove by. When Massachusetts eviction moratorium expires, which may happen in mid-August, landlords are expected to file evictions on tens of thousands of Massachusetts residents, unless legislators strengthen protections from eviction. Many tenants are also seeking collective bargaining with their landlords. The event is organized by Boston's grassroots housing justice organization, City Life/Vida Urbana. © 2020 Marilyn Humphries
