Jul. 07, 1959 - 75th birthday of Carl Friedrich Goerdeler: On July 31st it would be the 75th birthday of Carl Friedrich Goerdeler, who until 1936 was chief mayor of Leipzig, and who out of opposition against the National Socialism, resigned as commissioner of the ''Reich'' for price control in 1937 and became one of the leaders of the opposition against Hitler. After the assault on Hitler on July 20th 1944, he was taken into custody, and on Jan. 2nd, 1945 he was executed in Berlin - Plotzensee.
