The long-tailed macaque, also known as the crab-eating macaque, has the third-largest range of any primate species, behind only humans and rhesus macaques. In Thailand and Myanmar, they use stone tools to open nuts, oysters and other types of food with hard shells. Due to their long history of living alongside humans, they will sometimes take food from people and can be regarded as pests.
