Hundreds of people gathered in Puerta del Sol in Madrid on Wednesday (October 16) in support of Catalan independence. The gathering was later disrupted after dozens of Spanish nationalists took to the streets chanting "national unity" and "Catalonia is Spain". Scuffles broke out between riot police and Spanish nationalists in Madrid on Wednesday night. The protesters, some of them wearing masks, were seen chanting "national unity". The late night protest erupted after hundreds gathered in support of Catalan independence.
