Human anatomy, including structure and development and practical considerations . vian fissure, which intervenesbetween it and the temporal lobe. ()n the mesial surface the frontal lobe includesan irregular -), marked ofT by the calloso-marji^inal sulcus, the l(jnj:(er upper limbendinj^ behind the central fissure. On the inferior surface of the hemisphere, thefrontal lol)e includes the concave orbital area, bounded behind by the transverselydirected stem of the .SyKian fissure, which sulcus thus separates it from the temporallobe. Tile princii:)al fissures on the dorso-lateral surface of the frontal lobe are: ( i ) theinferior precentral, (2) the superior i)recentral, (3) the superior frontal and (4) theinferior frontal. The inferior precental sulcus which consists of a longer verticaland a short transverse limb and has a general ~| or T form. The vertical limbbegins al)ove the fissure of Sylvius and in front of the central fissure and extendsupward parallel to the latter and separated from the lower part of the precentral conolution. The horizontal limb Fic. 9S5.. Fre-quently the inferior precentral sulcusis directly continuous with the inferiorfrontal furrow; sometimes it opensbelow into the Sylvian fissure andabove may join the superior. The superior precental sulcusjMolongs upward the anterior ]j(jun-dary of the precentral convoluti(jn. Itlies parallel with the upper half of theRolandic fissure, but does not usually, although sometimes reach the uppermargin of the hemisphere. Almostconstantly it receives the posteriorend of the superior frontal sulcus withwhich it forms a —| shaped furrow. The superior frontal sulcusextends forward from the precedingfissure with a course which corre
