Riva San Vitale and Tempio di Santa Croce or church di Santa Croce (Church of the Holy Cross). The town is a municipality in the district of Mendrisio in the canton of Ticino in southern Switzerland, at the foot of Monte San Giorgio. The mount San Giorgio (mountain Saint George) is to be considered among the most important fossiliferous deposits in the world of the Middle Triassic and became a UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2003
