Large, oblong-oval; very deep purple, with a fine blue bloom; flesh yellowish green, juicy, sugary and separates freely from ihe stone. Vigorous and great bearer. Last of August. Reine Claude de Bavay. Large, roundish; green- ish yellow, faintly striped, with a thin bloom; flesh yellow, nu'lting, juicy, sugaiy, rich and excellent; freestone. Vigorous and productive. Last of Sep- tember and first of ()ct()i)er. Shropshire Damson. Medium, obovate; purple, covered with a thick blue bloom; melting, juicy, subacid, separating pai-tinlly from the stone. Tree exceedingly productive; fine foi- mai-ket. Sept.. SECTION NATIVE PLUMS Within the past few years there has sprung into existence a number of varieties of our native Plums, princi- pally of the Chickasaw type; these, as a gen- eral rule, withstand the attacks of the cureulio much better than the foreign sorts; they are particularly valuable South, where the finer varie- ties will not succeed. We have tested a number of them and believe the following to be the best: Robinson. A new native Plum of rather small size; bi-ight red; sweet, juicy and rich; wonder- fully productive and profitable for market. Last of August. Wild Goose. An improved variety of the Chicka- saw, of strong growth and comparatively free from the depredations of the cureulio; large; bright red, with a gray bloom; juicy, sw
