Prices are about the same as those of a year ago, but with everything the florist uses advanced in price, profits are necessarily reduced. The outlook, however, is not at all bad and everyone is optimistic over the com- ing Easter trade. Roses are quite abundant and are of extra fine quality. Few Beauties are seen, but the demand for them is not Avhat it was a few years ago and they are not missed as they would have been before the advent of Hadley, Russell, Ophelia and other present-day leaders. Double White Killarney is now extra fine. Ward is also a popular spring rose. Prices are about the same as last week. Carnations have averaged a lit- tle better than a week ago. There was a good call for whites March 17 for dyeing purposes. I am glad that some of our best retailers decline to handle these mutilated flowers. It is dis- creditable that so many continue to carry them with their natural flowers. Violets are abundant and average 50 cents per hundred. So are English primroses. Dutch bulbous stock is at flood tide. A few varieties of these not seen at every stall are poetaz, Sul- phur Phoenix and Glory of Leiden nar- cissi and Muscari Heavenly Bl
