Farquhar was appointed a delegate to represent the society at the same show, and others will be selected later. At the annual meeting of the society, held the same day, the attendance was meager. It would be a good plan to change the hour of meeting and secure a creditable attendance. The treas- urer's report showed receipts for the last year to be $24, 300 and expenses $21, 300. The hall rentals are gradu- ally increasing, being $2, 800 more in 1911 than in 1910. The reports of the plant, fruit, vegetable and other com- mittees were read or ordered printed. William Thatcher, gardener to Mrs. J. L. Gardner, and Martin Sullivan, gardener to William Whitman, each had a splendid lot of cyclamens at Horticul- tural hall January 6, which were award- ed gratuities. The opening lecture of the winter course will be given at Horticultural hall January 13 at 2 p. m., by R, W. Stimson, of Boston, on "Vocational Agricultural Education." Various Notes.
