Carnations are doing better and the 3-cent grade has advanced to 4 cents. Violets are overabundant. Street men were oflfer- ing $1 per thousand for the week-end accumulations on Monday morning. For the best blooms the top seems to be 50 cents per hundred. Stock must be exceptionally good to command a higher figure. Gardenias do not go above $3 per dozen and the short- stemmed ones use the street for an outlet when the weather permits it. Lilies are not overabundant and prices have held firm to date at $10 per hun- dred for the best of them. Valley is unchanged. Daffodils and freesia al- most flood the market and stock, espe- cially of Purity freesia, is exceptionally fine. Sweet peas also are overabun- .dant, except the long-stemmed grade. ; The low price of orchids is extraor- "dinary at this time of the year -and must be discouraging to growers. All : the popular varieties are here in great . abundance. The department stores are again advertising their sale at less than-: wholesale values.
