ROCHESTER. N. Y. The Market. A iioticoable change for the better has occurred in the flower business through- out the city during the last two weeks. Outdoor stock is becoming limited and the quality of it is far from the best. The trend of business during the last two weeks has been for the better grade of stock, and the demand has been en- couraging. The summer season is over and conditions are settling down even more rapidly than was at first antici- pated. Several good weddings, in which practically all of the florists shared, stimulated business wonderfully, and choice stock was in good demand. En- tertainments, funeral work and a Jew- ish holiday created a good stir. Good quality roses have been in heavy de- mand, the call being for long and me- dium-length stems. Premier has been far more plentiful than other varieties. Exceptionally good orchids and cypripe- diums are reaching the market and the demand is good. Lily of the valley is also in good demand and sells from $8 to $10 per hundred. Gladioli are becom- ing less plentiful each day, and those shipped in now are in tight bud. Little else is seen but red varieties. Some ex- ceptionally good dahlias reach us and move nicely. Hardy chrysanthemums in shell pink are seen daily and move well, beiug particularly handy for small basket work. Chrysanthemums are not so plentiful as might be wished, there be- ing a good demand for them. Good prices are obtained for Golden Glow and Early Frost. The supply of carnations is increasing, but the receipts do not meet the demand. The cooler weather has helped them along considerably and good blooms are seen. Lilies, up to the present, are in small supply. A few good delphiniums are seen and are found ac- ceptabl
