Feb. 29, 2012 - The new staging of Richard Wagner's ''Lohengrin'' - - is expected with great interest at the occasion of the Bayreuth Festivals 1953. This year Wolfgang, the younger of the two Wagner brothers. is responsible for the first time for the new staging. Astrid Varnay, the celebrated ''Bruenhilde'' of the last festival is singing this year also the ''Ortrud'' of ''Lohengrin''. Her great abilities as to singing and her playing will undoubtedly give the part a strong dramatic accent. Out Picture shows her when meeting Elsa on her way to the cathedral.
