Feb. 02, 1966 - JOHN VORSTER ELECTED SOUTH AFRICAN PREMIER. MR. BALTHAZAR JOHN VORSTER. South Africa's Justice Minister, was unanimously elected the country's seventh Prime-Minster in Capetown today. He succeeds Dr. Hendrik Vorwoerd, who was assassinated a week ago. The 163 strong caucus of the National Party took less than five minutes to elect Mr. Vorster at a private meeting in the Parliament building.
